What would you do - caught someone snooping

So last week my boss decides that although I have been very clear about my career objectives that he wants me to do "shoulder to shoulder" training with a retired colleague who was re-hired to train the US staff for a job that I completely do not want. I get great reviews and my scores are at the "promotion" level so I guess I'm expected to move up - but not to the spot he wants. This trainer was a plant of sorts to convince me to take a job that I do not want.

I stuck it out all day and we drove all over Manhattan and NJ. My boss cut out around 3 p.m. and I was with the trainer until around 7:30 p.m. in NJ. At one point we stopped for gas in NJ and when I got back into the truck the trainer was SCROLLING THROUGH MY BLACKBERRY in the phone listing!!!!

He did not immediately put it down when I got into the truck but instead asked me what the little W, M and P's were for (Work, Mobile, Pager) beside the names I did not even know what to say and I am still in shock writing this. I just met this person today and he went snooping through my phone? I just ignored the question and took my blackberry from him and checked my e-mail before we pulled off.

Would you say anything about it? Mention it to your boss?

i would definitely mention it! what an invasion of privacy!

i don't think i would have been able to hold my tongue had i been in your position!

Okay, so I still have not said anything to my boss. I did speak with a friend (works for my company in another state) as well as a coworker from my office who also had to spend a day with the nosy trainer guy.

I will mention it to my boss but both coworkers agree that it probably will get me nowhere other than letting them know that this man is a nosy jerk!
