Spinoff..Healthcare in US
My sister has been researching healthcare policies for her and her family.
Not cobra but actually taking out an independents policy.
Did you know that they do NOT cover maternity???
If you have coverage through a company (group policy) it's usually covered but to get insurance on your own that will not cover hospital bills etc. associated w/ birth, prenatal care etc.
I can't believe that’s even legal!!

Is your sister already pregnant? My SIL has no insurance and when she got pregnant she tried to take out a policy and they denied her saying she had a preexisting condition. She ended up having to work off the books so she could qualify for medicaid. So very sad....there are so many people out there without insurance. If we lived in Canada this wouldn't be a problem....this is part of what is wrong with the US

No, she's not preggo now.
Its complicated but her DH's parents have a large business that all their kids "work" for. They are covered under that but want to go out on their own now.
If she was done having children it wouldn't matter but she plans on having 1 or 2 more.
If you call any insurance company like Blur Cross and take out a policy maternity is not covered. Pre-existing or not.
