coming home outfit

Since I am not finding out the sex of the baby should I buy a boy and girl outfit? I would like to prewash them which means I can't return one. Or should I go for something unisex?

I am going to do a unisex....People go crazy over these outfits (which is totally fine), but I just dont see what the big deal is.

I bought one of each - I did the same for last pregnancy. I will leave it out and have DH (or my mom) wash it and bring it to the hospital the day the baby is to come home.

This is a great idea! I really think I want the coming home outfit to be gender specific. Thanks!

I bought one of each. After I delivered my mom washed the outfit for me (in Dreft) and brought it to the hospital for me when she visited.

Re: coming home outfit

I would probably buy one of each-and wash both. I wouldn't worry too much about the cost; it's only 1 outfit.

While I was pregnant, my mom asked if she could have the honor Chat Icon of buying the baby's coming home outfit. But, she wanted to wait until the baby arrived so that she could buy a gender specific outfit.
Once Lily was born, she went out (and went crazy) and bought a few outfits so Lily had a choice. Honestly, I didn't wash that outfit, and there was no problem.
Can you ask Tom to go buy an outfit once the baby arrives? His first job as a daddy? Chat Icon

Re: coming home outfit

I bought a B & g outfit---i washed both and DH brought me the appropriate one (boy)

I will save the girl outfit for my next one or someone in my family if they have a girl

You could get one of each and then wait and see what you have - then just have someone in your family wash it quickly after you deliver and bring it to you before you bring your baby home.

What a cute idea Lori! What do you think Tom will come up with? My guess is a pink yankees outfit or blue!Chat Icon I think I am going to give him this assignment. Chat Icon

I got a unisex one. It's orange and white striped so it'll be festive for Halloween Chat Icon
