Housecleaners-a question
Just wondering if I am expecting too much... Since I moved to Massapequa I have tried a couple of different cleaning services, and I havent been happy with any-
Prior to living here I lived in a house in Brooklyn, and had a girl who cleaned-she came every 2 weeks, charged $10 an hour and did EVERYTHING-
from cleaning insides of windows, changing sheets, cleaning & organizing my cabinets/closets-the inside of my refridg, laundry-you get the drift....
while I know she wasnt the norm, I am wondering if there is a set standard here on LI or if I have just been unlucky...
The services I have tried do barely the basics-they will dust, vaccuum&mop-thats it. They charge at least $20 an hour, and anything extra-ie cleaning inside the oven-is considered a "spring cleanup" and is more $$$!
And Im not talking about Merry Maids, usually its 1-2 women(usually polish) who have a private cleaning company. I just want to NOT have to clean right after I pay them to clean my house-lol Is this the norm? TIA!

Re: Housecleaners-a question
I have one girl who comes evrey week. She vaccuums, changes the beds, washes the sheets and towels in the bathroom, washes the floors, wipes down all my kitchen cabinets, and dusts. SHe charges $70 and is usually here about 3-3 1/2 hours.

Re: Housecleaners-a question
The person you had before sounds incredible!!!!!!! How long was she at your place??
I have used 3 different private people and 1 service so far and no - I didn't get that kind of service. They do the basics - cleaning kitchen and baths, dusting, vacuum, mop, etc. never did they do laundry, fridge, inside of closets, windows (just window sills get dusted but they have asked if I want them to for extra fee) or stuff like that. Most will change sheets and a couple will empty my bird cage). For me they cost anywhere fom $80-120 - depends on who I used.

Re: Housecleaners-a question
My girl does everything you described except the sheets and laundry.
I might ask her to do the laundry for me though if I give her more money. I can't lug the laundry up and down 2 flights of stairs anymore.
My girl is at the house for 4 hrs and charges $75.

I had a little house-and she DID milk it and would stay there all day(i guess thats why she charged only $10/hr!), so it would be $70-$80... and so worth it!

Re: Housecleaners-a question
I have someome who comes twice a month for $80 each time. She will do anything I ask her to. She usually spends about 5-6 hours in my house when she comes. There are good and bad cleaning ladies in the world. I recommend that you choose someone thorugh a recommendation from a friend or family member in the area rather than choosing randomly.
