REALLY, REALLY MAD!!!!
so, as i've posted before, i've been in the hospital twice in the past week with contractions.
on wednesday night one of my colleagues and friends was admitted to the same hospital to have her baby. a nurse who cared for me commented to her, "oh, one of your colleagues was just here". she didn't mention my name or anything else, but there aren't a lot of pregnant women in my department.
of course, i totally don't mind that my friend knows, i would have told her anyway. i'm just VERY upset that my privacy was breached in that way.
i'm not sure if i'm overreacting, but i just needed to vent... thanks

I may have been a little peeved about that too. Thank goodness she didn't mention your name though, that really would have been a HIPAA violation! Feel better

In fact, does the nurse know how many women are PG in your Dept.? You could be the only one for all she knows. She totally did a violation of privacy with HIPAA. I actually would call the hospital.

i'd be annoyed too but since you said its a friendly colleague who you would've told anyway, i wouldn't stress over it for you and the baby's sake...stress isn't good. Stay healthy!!

That would make me mad too.
Even though she didnt mention your name, isnt that a Hippa violation???? Especially if there arent alot of PG women in your department!

I work in day treatment and we follow HIPPA. Sounds like a complete and total violation to me. I would file a complaint.

Their not allowed to say that especially if they follow HIPPA guidelines. Good thing she is your friend and you don't mind her knowing.
