those who have been induced.....

I had my 39 week appt. today and still no progress. the dr. said since the baby is measuring so large already I can be induced monday night with cervadil and tues morning start patocin...
I forgot to ask if I'm allowed to eat anything before! Does any one know if I can eat that day or not??

I was told to eat that day before I went in for the Cervadil and they even let me eat lunch w/ the cervadil in.

I was induced with Cervidil-my ob didn't say anything about me not being able to eat during that day. I got to the hospital around 5pm and he inserted it around 6pm-I had to stay in bed for 2 hours then after that I was able to walk around. He also said I could eat something light like a sandwich but I wasn't hungry.

My pitocin was started at 7pm, I ate lunch before going to the hospital and after the cervadil was in for 3 hours, they gave me a turkey sandwich. I didnt eat anything the following morning. They started the pitocin and I wound up going for a c-section anyway

I ate a couple of English muffins at around 5:30 that morning- the pitocin was started at around 8 am.

I didn't know I was going to be induced, but DH and I were starving before I went to the hospital, so we had McDonald's. I was monitored for about 5 hours before they put the cervedil in, so they gave me a turkey sandwich to eat.

They inserted my cervedil at midnight on Thursday and it has to stay in for 12 hours, so they checked it again at noon on Thursday. I had to stay in bed the whole time, but I was induced due to high bp, so that may have been why I had to be laying down. Then they started the pitocin at about 1pm or so Thursday. DS was born at 9:59pm on Thursday.

I ate before I went to the hospital (DH and I went for our last dinner out before baby). I had the cervidil inserted @ 11pm and they checked it at 11am the next morning.
My Dr. let me have both breakfast and lunch the next day. I couldn't eat after lunch though. They were going to start the pitocin at 1pm- we didn't start until 5pm.

yes you shoud eat before you go for the cervadil...i had a great experience with my induction, i wish you the same

once you are given the cervidil, at least I was told in the hospital NO food.
But I had 1 nurse that let me sneak something b/c I didnt eat breakfast, I thought I could eat no one said anything but it had to be by a certain time that I was allowed to eat and I was starving and thats not good. It had to be light only allowed half of sandwich and lil bit of soda that was it.
