Re: Spinoff: Jersey girls please come in..

My dad lives in Pt. Jeff... yes I soooooo dread the drive out there. Unfortunately, we do not head out that way too often Chat Icon The flip side to that is that to my family on LI, they all act like I've moved to the other side of the universe (and I also live in Northern Jersey). It's like getting teeth pulled to get them here.

I grew up in NJ too (central NJ though)! Yes, the trip stunk (much of our family was on LI). We only came for holidays.

Re: Spinoff: Jersey girls please come in..

I am the opposite of you, I grew up on Long Island and DH is from Rockland County. We just bought a house in Rockland County.

The only times I "dread" making trips to LI is on summer Sundays and holidays (my family doesn't usually start dinner until 6pm on holidays so I get stuck in the worst of the traffic). I usually head out to LI once a month.

My parents have come up to see me once or twice a month since we bought the house. Nobody else in my family has (well, except for my aunt and uncle who had a wedding in our town) but, I don't think I'd see them if I was on LI either. They've only had one major problem (last weekend when the Tappan Zee Bridge was closed) but, overall, it's not that bad of a trip.
