I had a run in with a nurse

So I am on terbutaline and off and on my pulse will be too high for me to get it. THe hospital cut off is a pulse of 120. Well my pulse was 116 and 115 consecutively with two nurses in the shifts before so they held the dose since I was so close to cut off. The nurse with the 115 pulse checked asked me if the other nurse had held my meds so I said yes because she felt 116 was close so the nurse held the dose saying she didnt want to take a chance either. I went on to tell he rmy doc didnt want me to take a chance of my heart racing more. Well the next nurse came on and my pulse was 117 and she wanted to give me the terbutaline-she said that technically me telling the previous nurse what the other nurse had could technically be interpreted as me refusing to take my meds-WTH. Luckily(or unluckily my pulse was 123) so she couldnt give it to me. I explained that my doctor didnt want my heart racing and a side effect of terbutaline is increased heart rate so he verbally told me to let them know this and he made a note in my CHART. She kept going back to the hospital cut off of 120. So not one to argue I just told my doc the next morning so now on the front of my chart there is a huge note that says my cut off is 114Chat Icon

She'll get over it!!

I've had to tell nurses and doctors numerous times that I have a bleeding disorder and can't take medications that act as blood thinners. They usually give me an attitude for telling them how to do their job. Chat Icon Oh, okay, so kill me then. Or would my death be telling you how to do your job? Chat Icon
