For Those Who Failed the 1 Hour Test
I just called for the results of my 1 hour test and apparently I failed the test miserably, not just on the cut-off. So now I have to go take the 3 hour...
I was wondering if anyone else failed miserably and had to retake the test. If so, did you actually end up having GD?
I'm trying to stay calm about this, but honestly, I'm really upset....

i know it sucks - many girls seem to fail the 1 hour but pass the 3 hour. good luck! wish i had better advice. i take mine on Monday

do you know what your number was? i failed miserably as well (i believe my number was about 185) and was sure i wouldnt pass the 3 hr but surprisingly i did!!

They said like 230 something? I don't know- it was ridiculously high.
It figures because up until now I've been really calm about this pregnancy and all is going well. I'm 25 weeks along and have only gained like 13 pounds and I feel pretty good...

I'm in the same boat...I failed w/a 186 and just saw my Dr. today. He assured me not to worry. He said only 5% of those that fail the 1hr also fail the 3hr. He also told me not to worry at all, and lets see what the 3hr test shows. He said its likely I'll get 2 high numbers but then the other two will be normal...something like that. He really didn't seem concerned.
I'm calling quest now to make my appointment for the 3hr. Not looking forward to it!!!

the glucose tolerance test...to test for gestational diabetes...you get it done around 26-28 weeks. Your drink a sugar drink and they take your blood an hour later to see how your body metabolized the sugar. If you fail it (over 130 or 135) you take the 3hr test... where you drink the sugar drink and they draw blood every hour after to see what your sugar levels are.

Good Luck on your 3 hour. try not to stress it yet - that 1 hour is so flukey.
First pregnancy - I got in the 170's on the 1hour and had GD. This pregnancy I had in the 140's and do not have GD.
PS - Try to remember it is not necessarily how you eat or how much weight you are gaining why you have GD or not. It really all comes down to how your body decides to process sugars at this time.

I failed the 1 hour with Jules and passed teh tree hours with flying colors. Now, I failed the 1 hour, part of the three hour and I am being treated even though technically I am borderline.

I am not trying to scare you but I failed the 3 hr worse than the 1 hr  Its all how your body can handle the sugar. Good luck!
