Every district is different. It also depends upon how many credits and years you have. MS+30 with 5 years expereince can equal MS with 2 years experience in another district.

Also keep in mind how much they have to contribute to their health care. Our district must pick up 14% and that is higher than most. We also have no dental, it's a trust fund reimbursement system.

Just found out that starting teachers with a MS in the city will make more than the same teacher in my Nassau district. That tells you how @#$% my pay scale is. We are second lowest in the county for MS, Hicksville is lowest.

I'm MS +60 and found out yesterday that I would make almost $30K more a year in my home district for the same amount of experienceChat Icon Chat Icon Yes, I will be looking once we have kids. I also have experience in teaching a lot of AP and college level courses.

Rich is in a very high starting-pay district, but the pay increase with the steps is not nearly as large as other districts.

He plans on transferring in a couple years.
