Igorance never stops - drunk drivers !
DH and I just stopped for dinner and drinks - the landlords watched the baby for us. So we are walking home and just get upstairs and I hear sirens and "Shut the f*cking car off RIGHT NOW".
Then I proceed to see two other cop cars and three cops on bikes appear.
Another cop car appears five minutes later and a device is handed from one cop to another. I see the cop put the device in the driver's mouth and then shortly after he is cuffed.
This happened right outside my HOME !!!'
Very unsettling !!

They say tonight is one of the worst nights in the year for drunk driving.
I wish there was some way to keep a car from turing on unless you used a breathalyzer. It would save so many lives.

I wish there was some way to keep a car from turing on unless you used a breathalyzer. It would save so many lives.
There are devices like this. I believe in some states, previously convicted drunk drivers must breathe into a device, and if it registers higher than a certain BAL, the ignition doesn't "unlock." Too bad they're not standard - it would save so many lives.

but weren't many people having friends breathe into it ?

From what I understand, you have to blow into it randomly while driving or your car will stop. It obviously gives you a moment incase you can't get to it right that second.

In the movie the 40 yr old virgin remember when the blonde has him blow into the breathlalizer in her car- I dont think it will work, they will just get others to blow into it.

This is one of the things that absolutely terrifies me now. I have 2 little boys and I WILL teach them the evils of drinking and driving. And I will pray that they NEVER get behind the wheel of a car with so much as a beer in their system. I will pray that they NEVER get in the car with someone who has had a drink...
But the scariest thing is that no matter how well I teach my children. No matter how hard I pound that message into their heads - there are still folks out there like that guy you describe. People who don't care about their own lives or the lives of the people around them.
And what are THEY teaching their kids? What will they be teaching the children that will grow up with and be on the same road with my boys one day?

That's the truth...how many times have you driven on the highway and the person in front of you is weaving all over?
The sad truth is that, no matter the consequences even, there are always those who think they are "okay to drive".
