just wondering...
Do you have to complete your thesis before you can receive your certification and teach?

Re: ? for Teachers

You can still get your provisional and still teache. My DH has his provisional and still going to grad. school.

I dont know what the new law is now with this new certification.
Are you still under the old one, where you get permanent cert??

actually I'm asking this for my brother who has completed school but hasn't finished his thesis.
I didn't feel like asking him and thought I'd find some answers hereChat Icon

Re: ? for Teachers

I guess it depends on the school he goes to. MY DH goes to Dowling, and Thesis is a class.
I know some schools have it as an extra requiremnt.
When I went to St. John's, I had the option of doing a thesis or taking the comps.
Now, I heard they have thesis is a requiremnt.

Re: ? for Teachers

I went to C.W. Post and they didn't have a thesis program. I had to take the comps instead.

I go to Dowling too! I'm in the literacy masters. We don't have to write a thesis, we just have to keep a portfolio. I think it depends on the school, and what program you're in.
