Before I put the couch on Craigslist...

Has anyone had any experience selling large items of furniture on Craigslist? We bought a gorgeous sofa for our bedroom from C&B a few months ago in a custom white microsuede. Unfortunately, with our long-haired cats, it's spent the past several months under a sheet. I need to discuss with DH but I'm thinking about selling the couch and replacing it with a leather chair instead (easier clean-up). Just wondering what everyone's experience has been? Do you decrease the sale price if it's pick-up only? Thanks

i have never sold on craiglist but have bought furniture from there (and know others who have bought). i just always assumed that if i buy from there, i will need to pick it up myself. list it for what you think it's worth and include lots of pictures and dimensions. you can lower the price or say best offer if it doesn't sell and you are desperate to get rid of it. good luck!

I sold a pool table on Craigslist. $900 plus the buyer paid 350 for the movers to disassemble at our house and reassemble at hers. Very quick and easy-sold it in 2 days.

My bro/SIL bought couches off Craigslist & had a wonderful experience...its just assumed you will pick up.

They've also sold a dining room set...no problems...just be sure to include a lot of pictures

I have bought many many items on craigslist including a dining room table, buffet, bookshelves, etc. I have also sold items including mattresses and couches. If we were buying we always picked the item up and vice versa when we were selling. As the other posters state make sure to give a detailed description and add good pictures. As a fair price and you should have no problem selling.

Craigslist ROCKS, I purchased my dishwasher, sold my TV and 1955 refrigerator. Include good pics and explain where item is and how many people they will need to get it out of the house. The 1955 refrigerator was in my basement and sold to an older lady in the Bronx, she actually had a moving company move it to her house.
