? About 1st Consult with RE
When you go for your very first meeting with an RE do you need to have your records from previous doctors (like the OB/GYN) with you or can you get them after you decide you will proceed with that particular RE?
How far in advance do you generally need to call to get an appointment for a consult? TIA!

Re: ? About 1st Consult with RE
They are all different. My first RE, I waited three months for a consult and I wasn't happy with them. The one I am going to now, I had an appointment in about a month. And I just called a different RE and got an appointement for July 9th, less than two weeks.

Re: ? About 1st Consult with RE
You can sign a request form to get your notes, I would definatrly take them with you to see RE, also if you keep a record of your menstual history, take that also, the more background you can give the better. I would call now and get the first appointment you can, why wait?

Re: ? About 1st Consult with RE
I brought copies of all my test results with me to my first appointment. The Dr. reviewed them and discussed them with us.
It took about a month to get an appointment with the doctor that I wanted.

Re: ? About 1st Consult with RE
Every doctor is definitely different. My new RE wanted my old RE's records, but my old RE didn't much care about my OBs records. I just had them sent at a later date.
My original RE I had an appt. within a couple of weeks. The new RE I had to wait a month. The reason sometimes they take a little longer is because your first visit is pretty long. Usually about an hour to an hour and a half. It would be a good idea if your DH/SO went with you, too.
Good luck!
