Who's good at gardening?
I'm trying to decide what to plant in 3 beds at my house. 1 of them is in front of a basement window so I don't want anything too high, and I have a whole truckload of tulip bulbs planted there already.. Another will be out toward the street (sort of an arc shaped bed).
I would prefer to use primarily perennials so I don't have to keep planting every year, but would like something other than just everygreens, and if I had my way, I would have something that blooms all summer. But, I am not against planting some annuals for color each year.
Any suggestions?
p/s - I did buy a couple of ornamental grasses to put by the street, and I would like to use some of those black-eyed susans.

Perrenials are great... You could plant yarrow, black-eyed susans, bluebells, lilies, etc. There are all kinds of perennial plants - you might be better off going to a nursery and asking them. They can suggest different things that bloom at different times so you have constant color.

Day lillies are great and they come in different varieties. They are also pretty low maintainence.

I love Hosta's, they grow in sun or shade and very easy to care for.

I agree and Montauk Daisies grow like weeds and are beautiful when they bloom!

Re: Who's good at gardening?
I planted a bunch of perennials in my front yard (it's full sun) and they look great and I plant varieties that bloom at different times of the year so that something is always in bloom.
I planted:
Blanket flower (flowers in summer)
Creeping phlox (good ground cover or border plant -- flowers in the spring)
Dianthus (blooms late spring/early summer)
I planted others, but I can't remember the names of them!
