Got Results! (Italy0308)
Hi, my doctor just called me with my ultrasound results.. I have PCOS. He said that's what's causing my infertility. I have to call his office tomorrow morning (he called after hours, no one was there) to make another appointment for more blood work and another test of my ovaries, he said just an x-ray, I think. He also got my medical records from my previous doctor who did surgery. He said I had scar tissue, there wasn't that much, and I really didn't even need surgery. If my last doctor would have tested me for PCOS, I could have avoided surgery. Once he gets my blood test results and other results he wants to put me on Glucophage and Metaformin. Oh, dr also wants my husband to do semen analysis, just to check, but thinks infertility is from me. Anyways, I'm nervous and excited! Only doctor who I have went to, that actually gave me answers and has a game plan! Thank you all again! I'll be updating more while on this journey! You all are great!

Congrats on finding out what's going on and getting a game plan together! You must be so relieved.

Don't feel dumb, I am new to all this myself and it can be very confusing!! Glucophage is the "brand" name. Metformin is the generic name.
As for side effects- I was really scared to start taking it because I read about all kinds of stomach issues on it and even my doctor said I should expect to feel sick. I started it last tuesday and felt icky for a couple of days but now feel fine. Right now I am taking 1000 mg/day - 500 in the morning and 500 at night. My doctor said if nothing happened that we would have to up the dosage, so I am charting now and hopefully will ovulate, but if I don't I will start taking more.
I am going back in September, which will give me 3 months on the Met. If it is unsucessful, we will move on to the next thing, which would be th Met + clomid.

It feels good to have a game plan, doesn't it? 
I have PCOS and am on Metformin, too. It bothers my stomach, but its getting better (I've only been on a few weeks). I think it gets better with time as your body adjusts to it.

It's such a relief to get that diagnosis after a while. I wanted to hug the doctor that finally tested for it. (Although it is frustrating because you feel like it's all uphill.) My body responded well to the Metformin. Many girls have had stomach problems with it. Typically, your doctor should start you off on a low dose to get your body used to it, then raise it from there.
Keep yourself aware of all the little things happening with your body during this time. Mention everything to your doctor! A little thing that was happening with my body I kept quiet. Then I finally mentioned it and the doctor realized that something else was going on. That second moment was the breakthrough we needed. They started treating me with different things and I was pregnant soon after!

Thank you all! I'm excited to start everything, but also nervous! Hopefully the meds work! But I'm not giving up! I want a baby more than anything!

Update: I just got home from the doctors. I had to get blood work. My dr went over my ultrasound with me. He also gave me a prescription for glucophage! I didn't think it would be this soon!If the glucophage doesn't work then he will give me clomid too! I have to get an HSG done. I need to call to schedule that. I was kind of confused on that one.. Do you have to have your period in order to have that done? Or you're not supposed to have your period? The nurse said something about 7-10 days. I was lost. If anyone could fill me in on that, I'd appreciate it! Also, husband has to do a semen analysis. My dr gave me the "cup" for it. LOL! I have to have the HSG and semen analysis done by the time I go back! So, that's my update!! I'm very excited!
