My turn to freak out... about Friday!
I thought I was so over this pregnancy that I would not care about labor or the c-section... until last night.
I started to realize that I almost get a teary eye when I have confronted to a major event. I don't cry. I kind of hyperventilate for a couple of minutes. I usually want to be alone and I can calm myself down.
Well, last night, I realized that it could be happening when they prep me for the c-section. I feel I won't have that time alone to regroup myself and started to worry. I know how to "calm" myself but I can't do it unless I am alone. Maybe I can ask the nurses.

Re: My turn to freak out... about Friday!
Um, I am not any help...I had the biggest freak out of my life when they prepped me for the c-section. I totally wigged & asked Dr D if there was anything he could give me to stop the contractions b/c I was not ready yet.
I do have to say that once the nurses realised I was flipping they were right there with me. One woman was on my left massaging my temples, and the other was on my right holding my hand until DH came in after scrubbing in. Once DH was there the nurses was telling him what to do to help me stay calm.
Afterward I apologized to the Dr & the nurses for flipping & they told me that it happens all the time & that I actually was not that bad!
So I guess my long-winded response is, what will be will be, and they are more than prepared to help you relax.

Re: My turn to freak out... about Friday!
I know I will be a mess before my c-section. I have had other surgeries and they literally have to had to sedate me with a little valium beforehand because I shake so uncontrollably and cry...I'm such a chicken. It's always okay in the end, try not to think about it until the time comes..You may surprise yourself! Just think about that little bundle that you get afterwards!

Wow, I wish I knew what to tell you. When the induction didnt work and the dr told me they needed to do a c-section, I was fine until everyone left the room and had a nice meltdown for DH

I totally understand you. When I had Katherine, I totally freaked at the c-section--I think they sedated me after she was born as a result.
But this time with Abigail, I think just knowing what to expect as well as it not being an emergency situation made it so much better. I warned the anesthesiologist that I have a certain "anxiety level" and he assured me he would give me some happy medication after the baby was out. Just knowing that helped me get through it. In fact, after Abby was born, I decided to stick it out with no extra meds and it was sooo much better afterwards--I actually remember stuff about the birth
You will do great!

Awww..Sophie. It's perfectly "normal" to freak out during delivery. I've never had a c-section....but from my experience having given birth twice, I think the "flipping out" and "meltdowns" all the ladies have described prior to theirs is likely the same as how during BOTH labors, while pushing, I started crying and sobbing that I couldn't do it.
I recall even telling my dr. to just "take the baby" because I couldn't push it out. They laughed at me and said "the baby is almost here, one more push." They were right.

It's completely understandable, I would be nervous if I knew I was having any major surgery too...I'd even be nervous now if I knew what day was coming, even w/o needing a c-section.
I'm sure the nurses and your loved ones will help quell your fears, but know it's perfectly normal to be nervous!

I'm right there with you... thought I was ok, but as it gets closer, I'm starting to freak. I'm chalking it all up to the unknown and trying to shrug my shoulders.... probably not much help to you.
I'm sure the nurses/Dr.'s will all be there to support you, and your DH will be right by your side.
