so nauseous during my pedicure...
i went for a spa pedicure today...they do a 30 min reflexology massage.
well during the massage i got so dizzy and nauseous...my head felt really cold, but yet i was sweating and so hot and i turned so white. the baby was really kicking and i just didnt feel right.
i had to ask the lady to stop so i can drink some water and then i just had her switch to the other leg when i started to feel better.
i wonder if she stimulated some kind of nerve during the massage??? i never get like that so i just thought it was so strange...
has this happened to anyone? i see my dr on wed...is this something i should bring up to her?

Never happend to me but I do believe you are not supposed to have reflexology while pregnant. I could be wrong though.

There is a pressure point for the uterus somewhere in the foot/ankle area. Stimulating it can cause uterine contractions and possibly induce labor if you are already in the early stages of it. It wouldn't hurt to bring it up to your Dr. How are you feeling now? Better, I hope!

I've also heard the same. That there are 2 points in your foot/ankle/leg whatever that are connected to your uterus.
If she know you were pregnant, I'm sure she knew to stay away from those areas. It could have been stimulating another organ making you sick.
I'd stay away from any more foot massages & mention it to your Dr. at your next apt.

I had a few massages in my 1st trimester (although... not recommended!!!). I had to stop. I was getting nauseaous too.
That's mostly because you release toxines when you massage someone. I am not sure that has to do with the reflexology per se. Releasing the toxines will make you sick. Drink plenty of water to flush it out!!!
Was the person a Massage therapist to give you a "reflexology" massage?

Was it warm in the spa? I went for a mani/pedi yesterday and started getting a little light headed because it was getting warm in the salon. They put the air on higher and gave me some water and I was fine. I would ask your dr. about it. Feel better!

Might be the heat from the water as well as the pressure. You have to be careful with any kind of massage.

thanks girls!
i feel much better today, but i just cant get over how i felt yesterday...so odd. im supposed to get a couples massage with DH tomorrow for our anniversary (it was last week but we couldnt go sooner) and now im nervous about going. but thankfully i will see my dr in the am and see what she has to say!!!

I know some PG woman cannot get massages. Not just during the 1st trimester. One of my teacher could not get any during her entire pregnancy. Being a massage therapist getting them a lot you would think she was OK.. but no... no rules. She could not tolerate them.

I don't give massages to PG woman without a dr's note.
You can ask your dr. Each pregnancy is different and bodies react differently to massage.
