Spinoff to - Anyone into Photogrpahy....
Interested in buying my first DSLR. I was going to get the cannon rebel but I see alot of posts talking about the Nikon. Which is better?

CR rates them both VERY well!! my DH has a film Nikon SLR that he used on several trips to Europe and loved it. so he specifically asked for a Nikon digital SLR

They're supposedly both equally as good. Some people just prefer Canon for whatever reason, while others prefer Nikon.

People who own Canon, love Canon...while people who love Nikon, love Canon - ehr, Nikon  It's a preference based on what you want/need and how the camera feels in your hands.
For us going with a Canon DSLR was a no brainer since we already invested in Canon equipment when we bought our 35mm. It was figuring out which Canon DSLR we wanted that was a little tough. In the end we went with the 30D...and absolutely love it!

I have an Olympus and a Kodak. My Olympus is awesome. It's not an SLR, but I looove it!

You can't go wrong with either.
Our SLR is a Nikon D50 and we have two lenses for it. It's bulky, but I love it! Takes great pictures.
We also have several smaller digital camera that are Canons. An SD400 and an S700. Both are great too for small pocket sized camera with movie capabilities.
