Do you freak out over everything you read?
I got a book on pregnancy from the OB Coordinator yesterday and was reading it last night. I had to put it down b/c it made me freak out. I read so much on what can cause birth defects and was like - "I did that", "He does that". I got so scared that I barely slept all night.
How do you not freak over everything you read and then analyze all the "bad" things you did without knowing?

STOP READING!
This is my 3rd, so I am somewhat jaded. BUT, with my first, I read every little thing I could get my hands on, and spent 99% of my time stressing out over every single little thing.
The best advice I got (from a nurse in my first OBs office) was : Do not read anything pregnancy related. You will drive yourself nuts with all the conflicting information.
Just my 2 cents though... like I said, seasoned vet here who has btdt.

Re: Do you freak out over everything you read?
I was, so I stopped reading.
Every morning for a week I was crying in the shower over the things that could go wrong, because I didn't want DH to see me freaking out. I'm much happier now.
Now I try to only worry about the things I can control. The SIDS and birth defects and all that crap they scare you with - it's up to God to deal with, so I'll worry about decorating my nursery and paying for daycare and all the stuff that is up to me to deal with.

That is a great outlook. I know I need to look at it like this to but it is so hard. DH tells me I am crazy for worrying so much but it is my nature.

Oh, I didn't get to this place on my own. One of my other pg girlfriends yelled at me for freaking out and that's what she told me. Ever since that night I've been calm, because she was right.

Well then, I need someone to yell at me to snap me out of this. Someone who has BTDT.
