other doc in practice
so I have to see all of the docs at least 1x in case my doc isn't on call when the baby comes...well I had an appt w/one doc today and I tell him that i had the rhogam shot last time, but i now know that my husb blood type is the same as mine through his dog tags. he tells me to bring in the dog tags so that he can verify - w t f? why would i lie...but ok that's not the worst part. he then says, "well, is your husband the father of this baby?" to which I respond, "um, yeah it's our honeymoon baby" and I shake my head like, are u serious...he then proceeds to say, "well, we live in the jerry springer generation, so you never know" W T FFFFFFF? I thought that was so rude of him. I am pizzed and can't wait to tell my doc what he said.
am i wrong to be upset about this or is it a typical question they ask everyone?

what?????? I have never experienced such unprofessionalism in a doctors office! I would most certainly speak to your main doctor about this. His bedside manner is disgusting

I understand why you are upset BUT you wouldnt believe some of the stories Ive heard...I personally have a friend of mine who had a baby with someone other than her husband...I am the only person who knows this or would even suspect.
Rh incompatibility can be very serious if you dont receive the shot. My sister had to have her DH come into the office and submit a blood sample in order to verify the blood type and they asked her the same type of questions...
Her doctor told her that he had one patient who had her DH come in to verify the blood..and while he was in fact RH- the baby upon delivery was RH+ so apparently Mommy didnt tell the complete truth!!!!

sadly i agree.
my mom is a nurse and tells tales about wives and girlfriends meeting in the ICU.
hey, even though we are married, we still have to have HIV tests as well. i was offended by this at first as well...but i happen to know from my mom that spouses LIE and diseases spread!
however, this dr. could've been a little less crass about it.

thanks ladies. I appreciate your answers! I understand that women and men cheat, but....he didn't have to say it the way he did. And my doc has my sexual history in my chart - very very limited sexual history. i just felt dirty...definitely not the best bed side manner at all. i really hope he isnt on call when i deliver...i'm just happy i wont have to see him again.
