Does anyone play the piano?
My DH and I are buying a keyboard (because we don't have room for a piano) to take lessons on. I'm wondering if having someone come to the house is better than going somewhere for lessons? And how much is the going rate for lessons?

I would suggest FM'ing Stefanie. I thought she was giving lessons or thinking about it.

Thanks Barb!!
Actually, I've been playing for over 20 years. I'm getting my old piano from my parents sent to my house so I will be starting lessons. I started out on a keyboard too!!

Re: Does anyone play the piano?
I guess I'd recommend getting lessons on a real piano. But, if money isn't an issue for your keyboard purchase, get a keyboard that feels like a real piano. There are things you learn on a real piano about how to create dynamics and sound (loud, soft, blending of sound).
If you can get a keyboard that feels like a real piano, then I think lessons at home would be fine.
If you'd like the keyboard to have a real feel and sound of a piano, I recommend the Korg Trinity Pro x. Professionals even use this keyboard for both popular music and film. I learned to play as a child and I don't have a real piano at home, but I have a home studio. After visiting shops and test-playing available keyboards, the Korg Trinity Pro x is the best one I found (at the time -- several years ago) that mimics the feel and sound of a real piano (weighted keys, pedal feel). The one I got is the Trinity Pro x Music Workstation DRS HDR, 88 weighted keys, with the pedal adaptor. You can use it with headphones. It's expensive, though.
