Re: How different is your family compared to your in laws?
They were pretty similar but things are changing.
My parents like to party and be outside. They don't gossip or have nothing to complain about most of the time.
His parents like to be outside and are slowly turning into the cranky old neighbors. They have basically retired at 50 and I think they just look for things to complain and gossip about. They need something to occupy their time.

There are many similarities and many differences. I think they are probably more similiar than different though. Both very loving, caring, close families. We are fortunate.

Re: How different is your family compared to your in laws?
My family is very, very laid back...all my great aunts are a bunch of aging hippies. We are LOUD and obnoxious to a point...we enjoy life and have FUN. Everything is about finding the laughter and chance to laugh for us.
My in-laws, though fun, are quite reserved in comparison. They are more about finding the positive regardless of humor.
So, total opposites.

different as night and day. my father and his gf put their kids ahead of themselves and are always hugging, saying i love you, etc. my ILs make themselves top priority above DH and never say i love you.

My in-laws are more family oriented.
In my family...it's more about us, the immediate family.

Very similar - which is why they get along so well.

Re: How different is your family compared to your in laws?
My family is small and Dh's is bigger. My mother (although a widow) was with my father until he passed. Dh's parents are "living together" but aren't together..if that makes any sense. Basically room mates?? His family is a little wacky but I love them..at least they all speak to each other, unlike my side.
I guess I'd have to go with total opposites on this.

Re: How different is your family compared to your in laws?
My family & my in-laws are the exactly same way as the one in...
"My big fat Greek Wedding"....
if you saw the movie then you know what I am talking about...
My in-laws being the Greek one...
But on a serious note: We do share the same values....and are not much different from eachother...

Re: How different is your family compared to your in laws?
same values - meaning both raised great kids and both taught us how to appreciate things and that family is important etc.
i dont think there are any huge differences- maybe that his mom is old world italian and my mom is polish and not into or understanding of the italian thing- that may be the big difference ... but both parents are wonderful and respectful of our relationship and privacy
