Brithday Party for an "off" year...
To make a long story short, I want to throw a bday bash for my dh for his upcoming, 34th birthday. Is that cheesy?
We got married around the time of his 30th, and he got jipped out of one because all of our $ was going towards the wedding.
For his 35th birthday, I plan on being very pregnant (or have a baby by then) and I think his brithday may get lost in the shuffle yet again.
Is it OK to throw him a surprise 34th, or is that silly?
Be honest, please!
TIA!

I don't think it is bad but you really should not plan on being "very" pregnant because things work out on their own. My 1st child took 7 months to conceive, 6 monts for my 2nd. If I stopped everything I was doing for them, nothing would have gotten done.

I think people might be like when they get the invite. It does seem a bit weird, but I understand why you'd want to give him his big party. How about doing something to poke fun at it on the invite..... something like "Come Celebrate Joe's 30th Birthday 4 Years Late!" If you're only inviting close friends and family, everyone will get it. And who doesn't love a party!

never need an explanation to throw a party. I threw DH a surprise for his 32nd - just because I wanted to! Everyone had a blast - and no one asked if it was a special year to celebrate.

Not at all! Go for it! He will be even MORE surprised since it's an off year!
I'd better be invited, lol!

Go for it. My friends DH through her a 31st bday and it was awesome. She did not expect a thing and we all had such a great time! Plan it and Enjoy it!

I think it's a great idea and I think MOST people will put two and two together as to why it is not technically a milestone birthday party.
I think people also do these kinds of things on off birthdays to throw the guest of honor off, like who expects a big surprise party for 34? You can play that card as well if people start to ask too many annoying questions.

I was watching a thing on CBS this morning about people throwing million dollar parties. This one woman threw her husband a huge party for his 53rd birthday because he had survived cancer and she didn't want to wait for a big year when that number was just as good a reason to celebrate.

I agree with that 100%- I was alittle too young to throw my parents a 30th wedding anniversary party- and planned on throwing them one for there 35th-
let's just say I should have thrown them a 32nd one
