Rabbit Hunting Season

We have 3 rabbits that visit our yard - I love them. They're cute and don't seem to mind me as I go about my business in the yard.

That was until today Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

One of these (previously) adorable rabbits went to town on our lettuce (which has since been remedied) but they are also eating ALL the leaves off my roses. They are going to kill my roses!!

HELP! What product will safely keep them from my roses without scaring them from my yard (I'd still like to be visited by the pesky little buggars)??

BUT wanted to say that rabbit sightings are rampant these day! We have a little fella who is living in the flower beds at the funeral home!

Re: Rabbit Hunting Season

there are all natural liquid repelents I buy at agway to keep rabbits out of the garden & cats away from my chickens. There are some "recipes" for household items you can use to keep pest animals away without hurting them.

we have a mommy and her baby on our property. I see them together all the time and I think mom is teaching the baby survival stuff, it was absolitely adorable to watch.

So please use the safe stuff for animalsChat Icon

Re: Rabbit Hunting Season

You can try dried blood. It is gross but it scares them away because it smells like...well I guess... Rabbit murder...

I had the same problem last year and I had to build cages around my veggies. But the dried blood is supposed to work. You can get it at the garden store.

Yes, I am only looking for products that will safely keep them from my greens...I don't eat animals so I certainly don't want to kill them Chat Icon

I've read about hair and garlic...I think I will try the liquid stuff. Thanks for the tips - I assume from the recommendations, that these have been tried and work?

I have tried the home remedies that include hot pepper, but I swear they still take a taste and decide if they like it or not! Sometimes they will keep eating! LOL

I tried something new this year called "Chase" its basically a concoction of fox urine and glands and so far so good. Chat Icon It repels everything deer, woodchucks (my biggest problem), cats, dogs, rabbits, squirrels, mice, chipmunks.....
I got it at my local nursery, I'll see if the bottle has more info on it.

Re: Rabbit Hunting Season

Thanks!

We picked up some spray that Have-a-Heart puts out. It smells like jalapeno eggs Chat Icon

We'll see what happens. Chat Icon
