Anyone have problems with cars driving TOO fast down their block?

We live on a side street, 30mph road and these people drive like nuts down it. We have one neighbor who just continues to speed around each corner and punch the gas everytime they drive down the road. I counted that there are about 20 kids in the vicinity.
What more can you do than call the cops? AND...does that work?

Ummm...yes!!

I dont thnk that we can really complain since we did buy a house on a "busy" street but I still think that people should slow down on residential streets

I live at the corner of two dead ends with three way stop signs and still people (NEIGHBORS!!!!) blow through the stop signs going waaaaaaay too fast!!!

The only people going down my block live on this block and none of them speed down the block (that I've seen or heard).

I live on a dead end street and we have one neighbor who drives his corvette 40 mph down the block. We have a ton of kids down here and my neighbor has asked him repeatedly to slow it down.

We live on a curve aqnd sometimes people take the turn too fast. I wish there was a stop sign going the opposite direction. I was talking to one of my neighbors who is a retired detective and said it's been going on for years.

Where i live i am having the same problem people see the kids playing and they still speed down the block like idiots... I have purchased that green man that holds a flag and it says 'kids at play" I put it almost in the middle of the street. Maybe they will get the hint to slow there @$$e$ down...

Put a long piece of wood with nails sticking up in the street and they will never do it again

Crazy thing is my grandfather did this years ago when my dad was little. Amazing what they got away with back than.

Keep calling the cops. My mother said she did this when we were kids. We lived near the high school and she hated the teenagers cutting through our block at 80mph. She would call both the cops and the school and she said it definitely worked. She said that a neighbor recently told her they were noticing it and they called and it seems to have helped.

If you consistently report this to your local precinct they will eventually send an officer out to "sit" and radar people... If people are speeding he will pull them over left and right.

That sometimes eliminates it for at least a little while because people might be afraid if they are on post that day or not.

Also, a neighbor of ours had a petition signed stating that regardless of the occasional Police presence-- people still speed and that they would like stop signs installed, reminders of the speed limit signs, etc.

These could be a few things you might want to try.

Yup. It is always yobbos that are showing off their cars on Friday and Saturday nites. NOthing I can do about it as if I called the Australian police they wouldnt say much.

We had them, but our local council went Speed bump crazy and now the traffic calming efforts have worked. So people go over the bumps slowly and in between them quickly!

Everybody wins!

This is definitely a problem at my parent's house. The police have monitored the area before, but have not done it lately. I am so scared that one of the neighbor kids will run out into the street after a ball (happened numerous times before) and get hit. Aside from the numerous times I have almost gotten rear-ended from some crazy person while I tried to pull into my driveway.

We have 30mph signs all over, but no stop signs. They really should put in a stop sign somewhere on the block.
