I don't live there, but we considered it up until people told me what a nightmare it can be to get there...and the LIRR line stinks. From what I have heard there are good and bad parts just like everywhere else.

I worked in a school in glen cove for awhile...the schools are pretty good. But as the previous poster said, it's a NIGHTMARE to get there because it's all the way on the North Shore, and there's only really 2 major roads to get there from the South Shore...it used to take me an hour to go 15 miles!

I lived there for a while. I liked the town.
I loved the North side of it but that's the most expensive.
Stay away from the Seacliff border area. It's not the "greatest".
Not easy to get in and out. It's basically a 2 lane road (106/107 split) unless you take Glen cove Road. LIRR is not the best for schedule.

my grandparents live there. like the previous posters said - there are good and bad sections. the worst part is getting to a major highway. it takes forever!!

School District is OK..my DH is actually a teacher in the Middle School.
BUT the town is pretty congested, some areas are pretty bad to live in, and its a B**** to commute in or out of...
