Ectopic/Miscarriage/ HSG ?
Hello Ladies,
Maybe someone can help In March of this year they believed that I had an ectopic pregnancy although they could not prove that because I was so early. So they had me take a test called the HSG on tuesday and my results came back normal there was nothing wrong with my tubes they were clear. So my dr told me I can start trying again. Did any one have an ectopic and they tubes were clear after taking the test which means I probably might have had a miscarriage instead of an ectopic is that possible since the dr could not tell me. I am just wondering? If this was case for you how long after knowing your tubes were clear did you get pregnant. Just curious

Re: Ectopic/Miscarriage/ HSG ?
Sorry to hear about your loss. .
I had a questionable ectopic/miscarriage and to this day, I have no proof on whether or not I had an ectopic. I had a DNC and a laparascopy and the pathology report was negative.
But one doctor's theory, he mentioned that the ectopic pregnancy could of been very very tiny and that it could of been flushed out prior to my surgery. No one truly knows and it is puzzling and upsetting knowing that I had a laparscopy for nothing.
As for your HSG, that seems to be good news about your tubes!

I also wanted to add that an ectopic could also mean "non"tubal. Meaning it could of implanted somewhere else other than the uterus.

Re: Ectopic/Miscarriage/ HSG ?
I have had this experience. Really it seems like a guessing game from what I've seen. If they don't see a sac in the uterus they think eptopic. If your numbers are rising but not "normally" they think eptopic. I really don't think they diagnose a lot of them correctly(of course unless they find something in the tube)

Did you take the HSG test did find out your tubes clear or block. My dr could tell if it was ectopic or not they believed so because my number were increasing but slightly and I had severe pain on my left side.

Re: Ectopic/Miscarriage/ HSG ?
Both my ectopics were visible on sonograms - one in the right tube, one in the left tube. One was surgically removed, preserving the tube. One was treated with methotrexate twice, then my tube ruptured. I got pg with the second ectopic one cycle after the first. 2 years later I did the HSG and discovered that my remaining tube is not viable, so "natural" pg is not on the table. This is secondary infertility as I already had one pg with absolutely no problems conceiving.
My SIL, on the other hand had an ectopic in one tube that ruptured. She lost the tube, did not do an HSG test, and got pg the following cycle. So, there's always hope!
