Friend VENT!
I just got an email from a friend who wants to know what I am doing for my 30th bday (1.5 months away) because she wants to plan her bday party for that day. What the he11 am I supposed to say? I have no idea what I am doing but was thinking of going out to dinner with her and a bunch of others like we typically do. I have no desire to combine parties because she wants a "party" and I want a low-key dinner. Plus she has 85million friends and I have 2...so our party would be her party. I really feel like I am put in a really crappy situation. If I say no, 1. I look like a b*tch 2. if my plans don't pan out, I look even more like a b*tch. If I say yes, I either celebrate my bday with her friends doing what she planned or I spend my bday with DH only, which is nice but not exactly how imagined my 30th. ARGH! Vent over.

Re: Friend VENT!
I would say that you were thinking of a quiet dinner with close friends.
What time is the daughter's birthday party?

Re: Friend VENT!
I would just tell her that although you haven't made definitive plans, you were hoping to do something small with her, your DH and your other friends. Hopefully she'll be considerate and pick a different day for her party. Good luck!
