humiliating day at Dr. Brenner's
I went in today to have an endometrial biopsy. I am THE WORST when it comes to exams and stuff, so we knew it was going to be difficult for me.
Well, I tried so hard to not think about it, and just get it done, but I was squirming/crying/biting my arm/etc. so baadly that he did not feel comfortable continuing, and was not able to complete the biopsy.
I feel like such an idiot. Afterwards, in his office, we discussed doing it in a hospital and going under. An alternative was taking valium but he didnt think it would be enough because i have such a strong anxiety. I was so embarassed and dissappoited in myself that I couldn't get through this, and this is nothing compared to what so many of you go through.
We are starting on Metformin today anyway, and the goal is to get the biopsy done sometime this summer.

Re: humiliating day at Dr. Brenner's
Do not feel bad about having to go under for a procedure. I was not able to complete an HSG because of cervical stenosis and it had been doubly painful, if not moreso, than many desribed it would be because of my issue. I knew it was a basic diagnostic that needed to be done towards the beginning of my IF process so, my RE did it while I was under for other procedures. I was actually grateful.
Like you, I also felt that my issue may seem relatively easy in comparison to others. But it still scared me and I had myself thinking the worst. But you know what? It is still your body and your fears and they should NEVER be invalidated no matter what.

That suck$, I'm sorry I'm sure you're not the first or last that this has happened to for Dr. Brenner so don't even think twice about it.

Don't feel too bad...the anesthesia will make it better all around. Keep your chin up, it'll be okay I'm sure Dr. Brenner has seen it all.

From what I understand, Dr. Brenner is a real sweet guy. And always remember, these specialists see the gammet of issues. I'm sure you're a day at the beach compared to some of their other patients.
And guess what! They get paid lots of money to have patience!!! So don't feel bad at all!!

Don't feel bad....I was unable to complete the saline sono because I kept squirming. I had to come back at a later date and bring my Atavan which helped me relax. I'm pretty sure it's extremely common...these procedures are not exactly a piece of cake
