Am I being unreasonable?
DH and I havent been over to my parents in 2 weeks. We had dinner at his moms on Wednesday, went out to dinner with his family on Saturday, and now just calls me to tell me that he told his mom we'd have lunch there later today. He didnt even ask me if thats what i wanted to do!!!! What if i wanted to go to my mom's and have memorial day with them!!!!
Ugggghhhhhh! Am i being completely unreasonable here????

I'd be mad. When DH and I had our apartment, every Sunday would be.."Go to the inlaws"..I LOVE them to pieces, but, I'd like to have dinner with my parents once in a while too.

I think it is unreasonable-he should have asked you- maybe you can say- OH I forgot to tell you that we already have plans to go to my parents house- sorry- and just go to your family
I hate these conflicts!
Sundays were designated "his mom.dad's dinner day" since he moved out of his house years ago- and it has become an issue sometimes because I don't want to go, or I want to do something with my parents... I love them and all- but How is it fair that every sunday we are with his family????: Sometimes my parents will come with- other times, I say NO- we are eating at home-and if they want to come over great- other times I just give in and go- or I make plans for that day somewhere else so we have something else to do...

he said "how can you drop this on me now??? i already told her we were coming!"....i told him that he never asked me if thats' what i wanted to do so just tell her i'm stuck at work and i'll see her during the week. he was pretty pizzed...

not at all. you have to try to split the time as evenly as possible. it doesn't always work that way, but to see his family 3 times in a week is a lot.

thank you! i said that to him "i'll being seeing your family 3 times in less than a week!"...and he got upset and said that all of a sudden i dont like his family. i'm trying to explain that its not that i dont like them, its just that its too much sometimes!

No, I don't think it's unreasonable at all. Since all the parents are so close they should get equal time. Maybe have them all over to your place once or twice a month so they can "share" you And that way you won't have so many weekly lunches and dinners to split.

oh man!! no you are not being unreasonable!!! DHs parents live very close to us as well and they are always inviting us over/out to eat.
DH learned his lesson a long time ago to not accept any invitations unless he asks me first. It's not right for your hubby to assume that all your free time should be spent with his family - especially since you don't see yours as often.
