moving in?

Has anyone actually moved in before doing any kind of renovations? We are planning on moving in and having all of our stuff in one of the later project room then slowly work on the house. Are we crazy? I know it would be easier to renovate then move in but....we really can not stand living in our apartment any longer!

How many of you lived there and did renovations when you first moved in?

We moved in and did renovations while we lived there. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It may have been inconvenient, but we loved every minute of it. After all, it was OUR house, so having a place of our own made us not even think about the inconvenience.

We gutted out our entire house from top to bottom and for example if we were working on the upstairs, we would live downstairs and vice versa..

We had a lot of the work done before we moved in, like the floors and painting and knocking down some walls, replacing windows and doors. But when we moved in the kitchen was completely gutted, waiting for everything to come in. It was definetly an inconvienence not having a kitchen, but we just wanted to move in already.

Then about a year later we started doing work again, a bathroom, central air, the outside.
I think the most annoying thing about doing the work when you live there is having people around all the time doing the work. And, the mess! But it is so worth it when everything is done!!

We are getting ownership this weekend and moving in this weekend. Dont want to pay anymore rent!
