Traumatic Brain Injuries s u c k!
DH suffered one almost 2 yrs ago...and it turned our life upside down.

In 2004 we started the process to get my medical problems taken care of so we can have a baby..than BAM...he has a horrible accident in 2005 that changed our life forever. Needless to say it put all our plans on hold.

He has improved so much but still has a way to go. And will probably never be 100% again.

He still needs an aide with him mon-fri when I'm at work because his short term memory is still affected and his balance is still off. He can sleep till 1pm if nobody wakes him up and will stay in the house all day if nobody gets him up and motivated.

I try explaining to him that I can not have a child while I still have to take care of him. And yet, he still can't understand this. Everyday he asks me when I'm going to take care of my issues so we can start IVF. He doesn't understand that I just can't do it.
And it's breaking my heart.

Sorry for the woe is me post...I just feel like I'm loosing it these last few days.

I don't even know what to say because I am truly sorry about this situation. To be newly married and young and have such a horrific injury change your lives is just awful. I can see why going thru IVF and having a child might not be the best for you right now. You have A LOT on your plate right now.
Can you speak with your husband's doctors about all of this? Maybe they can help him understand the situation?

First of all, I'm so sorry. I had no idea you had gone through this. You are an amazing woman for doing what you have done so far.
I understand about not wanting to move forward with trying for a baby. I agree with Michele, maybe you can have a Dr. explain it to him. It might make it more definite then.

What a terrible ordeal you have to go through. I totally agree, there is no way you can have a baby when you have to take care of him. And with IVF, you have such a chance of having multiples, that you'd really need his help, not having to help him.

I agree also, maybe his doctor speaking to him will help. And maybe if you speak to him about the chance of multiples, and tell him that you would absolutely need his help, maybe he'd see things a little more clearly?

I just wanted to send hugs your way. I am so sorry you have to go through so much. I hope your husband recovers even more, I know it takes time with brain injuries. I do hope someday you get to the point that you feel you can have a baby. Also, you are a strong woman for staying by him, and holdin all of this on your shoulders!

I am so sorry that you have had to go through all this I can't really add anything else, maybe DH'd doctors can help you
