Happy, happy, joy, joy...

Well, my brother got engaged. I've talked about him before - he's the one who lives in VA, has gone to visit my father ONCE in the past 8 years, didn't call my father when he got out of heart surgery until 3 days later, after I reamed him out, and never bothered to visit him in the weeks during recovery, even though he lives about 4 hours away.

He's 36, and his prior girlfriend was 57. They broke up, and a week later he started dating a 23 year old, who broke off her engagement to her fiance, moved out, and subsequently moved in with my brother, all within 2 weeks. She wants kids - my brother emphatically does not (thank goodness).

So, the topper is that he never called to tell me directly - he called my father and told him to tell me that he got engaged, the next time he saw me. Nice, huh?

He's going to have a small, "celtic" ceremony in his backyard in VA next May or June. Did I mention that neither of them are Scottish? He's jewish, though if you ask him, he'll deny it.

This should be fun. Maybe I'll walk out about an hour into it to "see the town", just like he did at my wedding
