Aaarrrggghhhhh! Vent about our yard.

We have almost half an acre of land. Which I never thought was very much but now that I live on it, it seems HUGE!

We have a very large front yard and a smaller (but decent) backyard. TONS AND TONS of trees. If I had to count, I would say 50-60? A forest really. There were 26 on the front lawn alone until my husband and his chain saw had a field day last week. Now there are about 12 in the front and you can actually see my house. LOL. I don't think they ever pruned a tree in the 25 years they lived here, everything was a mess, some trees were dead, etc. Our neighbors (um, all of them) have come over to say, "THANK YOU!!" for making the street look so much better. HA! But seriously, ALL we have been doing is yard work. It's consuming our lives. Our last house was only on .12 of an acre....MUCH easier!!

Also the previous owners planted a lot of perrenials. And I am happy about that (although not exactly loving their choices ) but my God, I think they stood on the roof and threw seeds down. There is no rhyme or reason to it all!! I feel badly doing it, but I've been chopping some stuff down and taking it to the dump, because everything is so huge and overgrown and ugly. I'm sure it was nice at one point, but not anymore.

Just had to vent, I cannot wait to be DONE with the yard (for now). I know it's an ongoing thing, but once I organize things some more hopefully it will look nicer and be easier to maintain.

I bet it looks great! All the hard work will pay off! My DH has been living outside lately doing yard work. He actually enjoys it. We also back up to woods and the worst part of the year is fall when we lose all the leaves!

im right there with you.

I probably have 30+ trees in my backyard. only two trees are near the house int he backyard - all the others are along the property line, which is fine.

the big huge tree near the house is completely dead. too bad we bought in winter, or I would have made them take it down! its probably been dead for years.

I will probably be feeling like this too next year. We have about 30 trees in our yard also. But we will only cut down the ones that are dead which are only a few........and a few big dead branches. Our whole area has lot of trees so it would probably look silly if we cut them all. And the neighbors probably wouldnt thank us.

But there is this huge one right in the middle of our driveway that is just in a real bad spot.......of course its healthy.......but I can see people hitting it and I can't have that. Hopefully, I can convince DH to take that one down also. It's gonna be a project.

ETA: The previous owners also planted a load of flowers, but just like you, I do not know how they did it? I'm thinking from the roof also b/c it's such a sloppy mess. The owner claimed that the squirrels moved them all.
