Does anyone do CSA??
CSA - Community Supported Agriculture consists of a community of individuals who commit to sharing the benefits and risks of farming, and in return enjoy fresh vegetables at a great value and a special relationship with us and our farm.
In the spring, CSA members buy a "share" of the farm's produce which helps cover the anticipated costs of the farm operation and pay the farmer a living wage. In return, members receive shares in the farm's bounty throughout the growing season, as well as satisfaction gained from participating directly in food production on farm visits and helping build a more local and equitable agricultural system.
Your commitment to our farm, as a CSA member, allows growers like us to maintain productive and profitable small farms and ensures the survival of local agriculture today and for future generations.
I was looking into an Organic farm in Riverhead but I dont know if the $$ is worth it.

I do. Though, I live in the Philly burbs so I don't use the same co-ops that you guys use around her. I absolutely love it. They drop off a bag full of yummy, organic veggies and fruit, that's stock full of everything, and will get a family of 4 through the entire week. I bought a seasonal cookbook so I have some recipes this time for some of the more unique seasonal produce they give us.
The quality is just unbelievable, and gives us a great excuse to eat lots of veggies and fruit during the week, and gets Alex in the habit of eating them as well.
I know my mom belongs to one out in the Hamptons and she raves about it all the time.

That is so good to hear!! It is $465 for 12 weeks. I think I would start off with a 1/2 share this summer before I commit 850. On the site it says that you get enough for 2 people per item... my kids are still small but yet I think I should go for more. Should I get a larger quantity??

Wow!  Sometimes I forget how expensive NY is!  Our co-op is from June - November, and we pay $550 for the whole season. That gives us a grocery bag filled with goodies every week that is good enough for 2 adults and one baby for a week. Actually, a good portion spoils because we don't get to all of it, unfortunately.
I'd start conservatively - unless you really do cook every single night. DH and I slack off and get lazy so the veggies sometimes sit in the fridge for too long and spoil - that's the ONE problem with going through an organic co-op - they don't stay fresh very long. So, unless you know you'll be cooking each and every day, I'd start with the 2 adult servings, and if it isn't enough, bump it up next season.

Maybe I should say that it's $465 for veggies, eggs, fresh flowers and fruit every 2 weeks from June-Nov. If I want it all every week it's $850.

Ok, that makes more sense! We don't get flowers or eggs - we only get veggies, fruit, herbs and during the fall, fresh apple cider (YUUUUUUUUUUMMMM)
I'd start out with the half share and see how far it takes you. Do they let you up your share in the middle if you want?
