Wow, I am stark-raving mad

And for once it has NOTHING to do with my father!

SO, you all know how much I hated my old firm right? But I left gracefully and made sure all of my files were in order for the next person. I did, however, realize 2 weeks after I left, I still had a file at home - I brought it to work with me, and told the secretary of the old partner to arrange a runner to pick it up because I really don't have time to walk it over, as I've been in training for weeks now. She kept hedging and hawing, saying she'll wait for me to drop it off

So, today I'm working at home and she emails me and says she needs me to drop off the file Monday. I email her back and tell her I'm working from home, and Monday I'm in training all day, so I tell her to arrange for the runner to come pick it up Monday morning, and I"ll have the file waiting at the front desk.

She emails me back and says I NEED THE FILE NOW, I'm sending the runner over to your office and he'll be there in 10 minutes - have the file for him. What?! I just told you I'm NOT there! And, no one is in my office from 12-1pm so I cannot arrange for the runner to pick it up!

I'm so ticked because this secretary was supposed to be my support when I worked at the old firm, and she never did a damn thing - I ended up doing all my own mailings, my own letters, everything, because she's quite simply the laziest person on earth.

Then, to add insult to injury, she tells me they can't find some medical records for another file I worked on, and insinuated that I lost them, or removed them on purpose I know I didn't - I know I attached them to a memo and gave them to the partner, which would mean SHE lost them by failing to refile them.

Ohhh I'm so mad... and SO happy I no longer work there!

It's called incompetence, at its finest I don't care if you're lazy and incompetent, but don't accuse ME of being the same because I'm far from it! The reason the damn records are lost is because the firm never invested in a real filing room, so they have ONE filer, who is 16 years old, who misplaces files and records on every case. If you have a problem with it, blame yourselves, not on an attorney who left because she couldn't take it anymore!

Hmph. Well, I arranged for the file to be there and waiting. It just goes to show how wonderful my new place is - I emailed the secretary and told her the problem I'm having, and before I could even count to 5, she told me she took the file from my desk, has it at her desk, and is handling everything.

I wipe my hands - I shall never respond to their emails again

clearly, this girl pays no attention to what you write in emails. that's one of my biggest pet peeves. i work with someone now who does that and it's annoying. And people tend to have real hard feelings towards someone once they've left. personally, i don't understand it...why should someone fault you for wanting to better yourself? but for whatever reason, people get bitter. Looks like this is the case with you and your old firm...it stinks. i'm sorry.
