PSA- beware of emails from paypal!
so I just got an email about a payment I "sent" thru paypal
it was for $109.99 to some person in NY for some silver bowl or something
anyway- it looked totally real- so I checked my paypal account and of course everything is fine
but there was a place to click on the bottom- that said if you didn't make this payment click here for your money back
I bet if I clicked- they would have wanted my password- and then they would have stolen my info
so just becareful! it's tempting to get mad and just click!

I recently got one too!! I reported it to paypal and they said that all emails they send start with "Dear ___ ____ (first and last name).
if your full name is not there, it's fake!

Speaking of fake emails - have you seen the one about all these things that your cell phone can do. One of the points is that if you lock yourself out of your car, you can use your cell phone to unlock your car. One of your car clickers has to be at home (or something like that) and your cell phone will pick up it's signal if you point the cell phone at the car and your car door will open.
Last night, 3 people that I know actually tried to do this. Of course, it didn't work - what a surprise....! I was almost embarassed that they tried!

I have gotten 2 or 3 of these since I have started using paypal. I always notify paypal, forwarding them the email and I change my password. It's so annoying!

the scary thing is- this one had my first and last name- the same way it is misspelled on my paypal account
but there is no way the email is real- how do I report it to paypal-
I am so scared of the thing!

 holy crap! I went the help area and there are a bunch of options to choose from regarding contacting them.

Forward the email you got to [email protected]. They will handle it from there.

I never use the link that comes on an e-mail from paypal. There are a lot of known scams and they link to
pages that look like the real thing. I go to my browser and type on the site name manually.

I had this happen to me not too long ago and I posted about it too. The funny thing is I closed my paypal account in January '06!!
I forwarded it to [email protected].
