Any recommendations? How are the prices to move a small apt?

I've been shocked.. we have a small 2 br and are moving literally 10 minutes from our current location and getting quotes of $1000-$1800....still searching....

You'll find several posts on this...
I was shocked to find Leonetti Bros in Oceanside was going to charge us $2k to move a 2 bedroom apt...then we called Allied/Astro based on a rec rec'd on here and they were approx. $1k LESS!

We used Johnson Moving Company in Levittown. My parents used them 22 years ago when they moved and so did my grandparents so that is why we went with them. We had a 2 bedroom 2nd floor apartment that was big and we moved to a 3 bedroom house in sayville. They charged us $900 and there were 4 guys. They were very professional and did a great job none of our stuff was damaged and I think our quote included "closets" at $25 each so I didn't have to wrap up all my clothes in the closet. I can't find their number but I am sure they are in the yellow pages or white pages.

I just used Johnson Movers a week ago and they were FANTASTIC. I would certainly recommend them. My total was around $900 and we had a big 1600 sq ft apt with a TON of crap. They were great.

I just moved this past Friday from a 1 bdrm apt in East Village to a 2 bdrm in Murray Hill 20 blocks north. I was quoted up to $1200!! We ended up working with Imperial moving who quoted us $650 and came in at $550!! They were EXCELLENT!! I highly recommend Jessica and Juan!!
