How long was the process?

We just signed our contract last night. I'm just wondering how long it takes from the time you sign the contract till the time you go to closing.

I thought it was usually about 3 months.

And how long should it take to get the mortgage approved?

Thanks for your help ladies.

Re: How long was the process?

My lawyer said from contract to close on average it's usally 60 days. Obviously it can be longer than that if you run in to problems.

You have 30 days from the "On or about" date that the seller put on the contract, to close.

I found it to be about 40-45 days on average.

Re: How long was the process?

a typical closing takes about 45-90 days. i've done deals before that were from contract to close approx. 20 days...as long as everyone is on the same page and comes prepared, there's really not much to it.

our first house was about 3 months. if all continues to go as planned with the house we're buying right now it will be about 6 weeks from offer to closing.

Re: How long was the process?

It was just over 2 weeks from when our offer was accepted until when we signed the contract. They signed the contract 3 weeks after we made our original offer.

We closed 6 weeks after that so it took a total of 9 weeks from offer to closing. Our house was vacant and we just wanted to get in and start doing stuff so we wanted to close even earlier.
