I salute anyone who takes the LIRR to work
I am a teacher so I am home by 4:30 and then have class from 6:30-8:20 and on my way home from class I see so many people just getting off the train from work I always feel so bad for them

I agree, it's not too bad. I get to read or sleep. I feel bad for the people that drive/sit in traffic.

That would be my husband - the best is when he sleeps thru his stop and then I have to go and pick him up from wherever he gets dumped out at the end of the line!!!

Re: I salute anyone who takes the LIRR to work
I sleep on the train. I've learned to tune certain things out. I read or nap or do some emails.
I would never drive into the city.

LOL! thats me and its even worse cause my DH WORKS for LIRR...but dont worry, he's only sleeping on his way home when his late night shift is over! he's not sleeping taking tickets or anything.

Re: I salute anyone who takes the LIRR to work
I used to commute from NJ to NYC and I would take the 730 train....then coming home I would get home around 7 - 8pm depending on the day I had....and OMG was I exhausted. It is so draining. I do, however, miss my "naps" and reading a good book. Can't do that now that I drive to work.

Re: I salute anyone who takes the LIRR to work
Before I started working in the city and commuting via LIRR I thought all of those people were crazy... Now I know it's not so bad, BUT, I don't know how people do it for 20+ years... that's insanity!

I agree. I read, sleep, do the crossword puzzles, but mostly I sleep listening to my IPOD. Ronkonkoma to Penn here!

Re: I salute anyone who takes the LIRR to work
I don't mind the train and I have been doing this for 5 yrs-I get to sleep or just relax-I would hate to be sitting in traffic!!! The only thing I hate is when there are delays or cancel trains-thats no fun!!!!

Re: I salute anyone who takes the LIRR to work

it normally takes me 40 to 60 minutes
