Gas at Hess

So strange, has anyone else experienced this? Last week & this week, I filled up our van with gas, and the same Hess gas station cuts you off at $50, even though I could fit another 2 or so gallons...it says 'fuel limit reached' on the screen and it shuts off. It's sooooo weird, no? Are we in a gas shortage? I use my debit and have plenty of $ in the account, so it's not that. When you start getting close to $50, it slows down a lot, kind of like when you pre-pay w/cash first and are reaching your limit.

So strange...

Re: Gas at Hess

Is it possibly to keep credit card fraud to a minimum? Since there is no signature, password, or person looking at the card, it's very easy to grab someone's card, and fill up all of your friend's cars. Of course, you could just keep re-swiping it, so I'm not sure if this is a valid reason. Chat Icon

I have heard of that happening to other people. Like GoldenRod said - it's probably to limit fraud & theft.

it's a cut off set by them or the bank- but I have only experinced it with that one- I don't remember which one it was

Re: Gas at Hess

It has been like that for a while now.

Some stations havea higher limit then others - but the norm has been $50 lately
