Unfortunately many ERs are overcrowded but that is no excuse for the way you were treated - I think the letter is good and just make sure you send it to the hospital's risk manager.

I am sorry for the experience youhad at the hospital and I think you letter is definately appropriate...
If this should happen to you again ( which I hope it does not) there is a place in Syosset called PM Pediatrics that is open form 5pm-12pm everyday.. It is an emergency place for children only when you can not get to your doctor... They might not take your insurance but many of my friends have gone there and they were very impressed..
I was going to mention this. I have found this to be a great alternative, even though its 20-30 minutes from my home.

i work in a hospital also. not only would i send it to risk management, i would send it to the CEO of the hospital and also Administration.
hope your baby is feeling better

LOL sorry I thought she was already sending it to the CEO I just wanted to make sure she included RM - I totally agree with the above - make sure you send it to the CEO, Administration and Risk management!

I think it is clear and very well written expressing your dissatisfaction with the service that you received in the hospital. I think if we all sent letters like that, maybe the hospital ER policies would slowly begin to change.

Send it certified mail, and keep a copy for your records. Especially since you plan on fighting the $150 copay.
BTW, I didn't think it was harsh at all.
