Hmmm...
I had Jared's Christening on Sunday and some strange things happened. Of course I'm talking about my MIL. I think things have been great with her lately. She watched Jared when I got my hair done, our communication has been great, etc...so what happened this past Sunday was very strange.
First, she showed up late to the church for the baptism ceremony...then she left quickly....showed up late to the restaurant and then left before the cake was served at the restaurant. She came over to say goodbye to my husband and then quickly turned around and left! She didn't even say goodbye to me or her grandson! I was completely shocked!
My DH called her when we were leaving and she said she had to leave to get someone home quickly and that nothing was the matter. He then spoke to her two days later and she repeated the same information again...that nothing was wrong.
I don't understand...after all that talking we had and how we're going to start over new...this happens???
I'm so confused...

My family consisted of my mother, father and father's brother wife and kids. The rest of the party was DH's father and his side of the family....she is very comfortable with them and was talkin to them. Plus she had her sister there and her two nephews. The rest of the party was friends.

Maybe you should give her a call and find out if everything is alright. This way, it shows that you made an effort to keep your relationship with her on good terms.

Me too. Maybe her odd behavior is b/c something else is wrong?

I hope for your sake something else is going on, but... Ive come to realzie that no matter what happens with MIL, and no matter what way we resolve it..its only "fixed" for a little while..
She is who she is thats never gonna change!

Hmm... maybe don't take it personally right off the bat. Wait to see how your next interaction with her goes before you decide if she is acting up again. I agree it is strange, but maybe she was being totally honest with what she told your DH.

I agree with some of the other posts I would call her and just chit chat and then bring upthe christening in the middle of the convo to see if everythign is ok. So she thinks your concerned with her and you showed an effort.

Well my DH called her again and she insisted she left early because her nephew was bugging her to leave...that still doesn't explain why she didn't say goodbye to me. I'm not going to drag it out, I guess. If that's what she said was the matter, then that's it. I guess I was being over-sensitive...
