Women who are Near due--is your dr talking to you about inducement?

I am trying to see if my dr is just a nut or if other drs also discuss possible inducment when u are close to due

How far along are you? My doctor didn't even discuss it until I was a week overdue.

My dr didn't even mention it! I told her unless there was something wrong I didn't want to discuss it. I went five days late. I went for a biophysical profile before my due date and she said everything was fine.

My dr. won't induce me unless I am 41 wks

I have 2 kids and my dr never wanted to induce. In fact, with #2 (my kids are 14 months apart) I was basically begging for an induction date and they saw no reason to even discuss it until I was a week late. There is a greater chance for a c-section when you are induced b/c the baby is not ready to come out yet! Of course if your fluid is low, the baby is breech or there is some other medical reason for induction, well, thats another story. Dont let the Dr bully you into inducing. I find alot of my friends' drs so this especially if they have due dates near or on a holiday weekend! FWIW, I had both of my kids naturally and with DD didn't even have the epi!

Thanks for the input! I am going for a biophysical tomorrow and if the results are good, then I am going to stick to my guns and wait. You are right--if it is induced, its not ready and a C would probably happen....urgh!!!

Why is he talking about it so early?
I thought they don't push it until you are late.
You better tell him that Aunt Gina said that when that baby is ready to come out , it will!!!!

He probably wants to go on vacation.....

My doctor metioned that if I were to be a week late they would consider induction. She wanted me to be prepared for that possibility because I am due in a week and nothing is going on yet. To be honest, I will beg to be induced after 1 week.

My dr scheduled induction due to high blood pressure, she didnt want me to go past 39 weeks

When I was about 20 weeks, I had to go to L&D for bleeding and it turned out that I have a vaginal polyp. At my next appointment my doctor mentioned a possible induction.

Since this kid has been measuring a little on the small side she isn't pushing it now. I go back tomorrow and I've been really sick and not able to keep any food down, so i want to see what she says now.

My docs started mentioning it and told me to think about it around 37-38 weeks with DD.

They won't induce though unless you are effaced and dilated. ETA: My docs

I tried to talk to my Dr. about iducing today and she wanted no part of it. She said they can not and will not do it until you're at least 39 weeks. (I guess that is the case with you). However, they don't like to do it, so if you're willing to let nature take it's course, they'll let you go while monitoring your fluid etc...
