Anyone Else Feel This Way??

I am just bummed. I am 38 weeks today, and I haven't been working for two weeks and I feel very useless. I had my shower last weekend and my mom came tuesday and helped me get the room ready. I have a couple of loads of laundry to do, but besides that, I am "ready".

But I just feel so bummed, I feel like I have to have this baby, move and then eventually deal with my job and I can't do anything of that sitting on the couch watching the OCChat Icon

Am I the only one who feels this way? How can I get out of this funk??

Re: Anyone Else Feel This Way??

I've been home since closing my store on March 1st with nothing to do and I'm not due til the beginning of June. Now, I'm completely content doing nothing, watching tv, running errands etc. But I can understand what you're feeling. The only advice I can give you is that this is YOUR TIME. In a short while you won't have a moment to yourself. So take this time to relax, do nothing, be mindless for awhile, because soon enough, you won't have time to take a shower.

Just think about how busy you're going to be in the next two coming weeks and for the rest of your life after that lol...enjoy your boredom and sleep as much as you can now!

I AGREE. I am usually running around 24-27 and decided to stop working 3 weeks before my due date. Now I am just loving life and cooking/cleaning/shopping/ catching up with people and doing all the things I know I wont have time for probably until my kids go to college :)0

Oh I can't wait to get to the point where I can relax on the couch and do "nothing" but listen to the peace and quiet... Enjoy it while it lasts, as @ 38 wks, it's not going to last much longer. At least the better weather is on the way.

I think that is part of it, it has been so BLAH that I am looking foward to opening some windows and walking my dog (a very short distance!)

BTW, your avatar pic is beautiful!

Re: Anyone Else Feel This Way??

Awh, thanks!!! That's my wedding pic from Jan. 4 months pg there Chat Icon

I can totally relate, this weather will make anyone miserable! It's slightly warmer today and I saw the temps climbing over the weekend into the 60's and 70 by Monday Chat Icon

I'm totally the type who would go stir crazy stuck inside, so, I can relate. What I did on Sunday just to get out, was go to Barnes and Nobel and start reading some children's books and "What to Expect during the first year". You'd think I'd just buy the book Chat Icon

Re: Anyone Else Feel This Way??

From a BTDT mom, try to get out, do spontatenous things, read, nap, who cares if you watch all the seasons of the OC. Do whatever temps your fancy now.

Once the baby comes, you won't be able to do whatever you want at the drop of a hat, nap, sleep in late or even sit and read.

Do what you can for yourself now, get pampered-get a manicure and pedicure, massage. Go out to dinner with DH to a fancy restaurant.

I wish i did that before DD came, but I worked til the Friday before she was born, I had 2 days to myself before she arrived. I so miss going to restaurants and not having to drag baby gear!

enjoy it while it lasts - you're not going to have much down time once the baby is here. You can watch Baby Story on the learning channel at 2:00

Take your dog to the park!! I try to go every day, no matter what the weather. It gives us both a "destination" other than errands..and makes me get dressed in the morning, lol.

Re: Anyone Else Feel This Way??

I felt the same way.. I was put on bedrest at 36 weeks and they wound up doing a c-section at 38 weeks.. So 2 weeks of BR... Everyone told me to enjoy it.....I was SOOO bored.... I now appreciated the time I had.... I was limited with what I could do, but I caught up on my reading and tv shows i taped... Now with DD it is hard to do anything!!!

Re: Anyone Else Feel This Way??

I was feeling exactly the same way you are right now. I took almost one month off of work before my DD was born and I was READY!! I couldn't wait for her arrival!!! I thought I had prepared myself enough but nothing can prepare you for a newborn. Get your rest now and enjoy it to the fullest! It has been very hard on me the last few weeks with emotional breakdowns and only having a few hours of sleep at night in a stretch and beign home with her all day watching the same programs over and over again wishing I could just get up and go out SOMEWHERE....

My only advise to you is to indulge yourself now in any way you can because the first couple of weeks learning to adjust with a newborn takes alot out of you! My thoughts lately have been "the grass is always greener on the other side" kinds wishing I could goto work just to get out. BUT there are times when I look at DD and have my moments when I am completely mesmerized by her and it makes it all worth it!!

good luck with everything!

Re: Anyone Else Feel This Way??

The weather could definitely contribute! Is there are baby project that needs to be done? Putting together the stroller or swing? Finding curtains?

Maybe having a goal will help you feel like you accomplished something.

You could aslo start making bulk meals and freezing them (ziti, eggplant, chicken cutlets). That's something I'm definitely going to be doing beforehand.

hang in there - I know it gets frustrating waiting! Chat Icon almost like you are in limbo
