Used my pregnancy to get out of jury duty
Sat for 2 full days in Riverhead criminal courts watching people make excuses to get out of jury duty. I got put in the box and when asked if I could handle the nature of the case (child sexual abuse) I said no, I'm pregnant and feel I can't handle the graphic testimony of a child right now and remain impartial. The judge lectured me on being impartial and it being my obligation. So I said before I was pregnant I'd have no problem. Now airline commercials make me cry and I want to lock my husband out of the house when he forgets to put out the garbage. I said the old me could be fair and impartial but now there are days I can't even be rational let alone fair and I can't control it all of the time.
He excused me. 
Even though I think it was kind of a cheesy way to get out of jury duty - seriously, what judge or attorney in their right mind would want a hormonal emotional pregnant lady on a jury?

I"m supposed to report for jury duty on Monday. Hopefully I will get out of it as well.

 That's great! I would have loved to see the judge's face when you said the part about wanting to lock your husband out of the house.

good to know! I just had to fill out the paperwork to register for jury duty. I do not want to go. I hope they dont call me when i'm pg or during my maternity leave cuz i'll have to postpone it.

That lecture was only for good measure. I work for a trial attorney and they would want to dismiss you in that case if you are preggo or a mother.
