Would this annoy you?

So, I am planning a baby shower for my sister this summer, and one of her friends wants to help out. I'm am totally fine with that, and will always welcome the help. I do know that originally her friend and another girl wanted to plan the shower but my BIL (and sister) told them that I am doing it. (After all, I AM her sister!) So today I get an email from the friend and in it, she made a comment about how large my sisters guest list is, and then went on to say..."Thanks so much for helping, because I couldn't have planned a shower this size on my own"

He comment kind of just rubbed me the wrong way, especially because I am paying for the entire thing AND taking care of the invitations (which I'm happy to do of course). I've asked her to take care of the decorations and the favors. She's MY sister, and we are very close, of course I was going to take charge of throwing her the shower.

Re: Would this annoy you?

I had this recently with my future SIL's shower. Her friends were "pissy" to say the least about the fact that her future family wanted to throw her a shower. In hindsight, I wish I had let them because it was getting out of hand and irritating me to no end how many "cooks" were in the kitchen.

This chick is over the line and it sounds like she's minimizing your role in the shower planning process and in your sister's life in generalChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

She's crossing a line she shouldn't be anywhere near and needs to be told to step back.

This is me too-
But I wanted to add that I wouldn't say anything. After all this is all for your sister and the last thing you want is any bad feelings.... and your sister will know who planned it so her comment is meaningless... it was said to make herself feel better about something most likely.

Re: Would this annoy you?

This would TOTALLY annoy me and I don't blame you for being bothered by her comment. But truthfully, I would probably just let it go. I think at this point, it's not worth it to make a big deal.

Chat Icon She got some nerve. That would have pizzzed me off big time. But with the situation I would have let it go just because I wouldn't want to upset my sister with any fights.

I would definitely do this. Other than that, I wouldn't want to make too big of a deal of it; if it somehow gets back to your sister, there might be tension between the two of them. JMO.

I agree. I hate situations like this because the other person is being very childish and if you say something, it sounds childish too. It would bother me but I wouldn't say anything unless it started turning into more and more comments like this.

So weird though - what is the matter with people where they can get the nerve to say that to someone?
