Hot career rivalry between Leonardo DiCaprio and aging Brad Pitt
32 year-old Leonardo DiCaprio is getting highly-coveted meaty roles that aging 43 year-old Brad Pitt would love to have. They both were trying to get the film rights to true-life story The Wolf of Wall Street about financier Bernard Mannes Baruch’s amazing career as a self-made Wall St. baron at the turn of the 20th century. Leo won, which some say makes Brad look bad as he’s still trying to carve out a place for himself as a serious actor:
It’s especially bad since Brad’s already lagging behind when it comes to movie-industry credibility. At age 32… Leo’s been nominated for three Oscars… while Brad has only received one nod…
As for the Wolf win, “Leo’s hot right now. He’s built an incredible resume and has strong ties with two of the hottest directors in Hollywood, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg,” the insider tels Star. “If Leo works on your project, you know that it will probably get an Oscar nomination. If Brad works on your project, it couls end up being Troy - an expensive dud.”

The article goes on to say that both Brad and Leo are also competing through their production companies for the film rights to Maxed Out, a documentary about debt in the US.
Unlikely mediator Gwyneth Paltrow is said to have told each of them how great the other one is in an attempt to get Brad and Leo to become friends. She’s an ex of Brad and is a supposed friend to Leo.
Star quotes the insider as saying “She’s been telling each of them that the other is great.”
Back in early January, British paper The Guardian ran a cautionary piece for Brad Pitt, telling him that his career is on the downslide and that he can’t measure up to rising stars like Matt Damon. They say he hasn’t made any good films since Fight Club and Se7en.
The Curious Case of Bejamin Button is coming out this year with Kate Blanchett though, and Brad may prove that he still has it in him to play a quirky and nuanced character.

It's true - Brad hasn't been in a really good movie since Fight Club and Se7en.
Everyone seems to focus more on Brad Pitt's looks than his acting anyway.

I think Leo is a better actor.
ITA! I exclude Titanic from his resume, and I really feel his breakthrough in adult roles was Gangs of NY - I thought that was a spell binding film and it helped that I was writing my senior thesis on NYC crime at the time that it all just fit for me.

ITA. Although I think Brad does the "innocent" roles quite well. Like the Vampire Louis (although the movie sucked big time) and Meet Joe Black.
I do think Leo is a better actor overall & more versitile....minus Titanic

I think Leo proved himself way back when in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape." I had never heard of him but he was TOTALLY believable as a mentally challenged kid.
He's a better actor and, he ain't bad to look at either.
