UMMMMM what part of HR involves the SWITCHBOARD?
I really don't get it. This is not what you signed on for. Can you talk to your manager about it? I know you don't want to make waves when you haven't been there very long, but it really doens't seem fair.

LOL ....exactly. Since I have a uterus I am ultimately more qualified to answer the phones.
I am not going to bring it up ..yet. I have reasons  I just wanted to complain. Since I am the HR Dept I can't go to the HR Dept to complain

OMG, I got stuck w/ this job for the receptionist's lunch break at my old job b/c I was "the new girl". I completely understand your frustration. I hated it!!

Ummm..you are HR and I would tell the "boss" and his penis that this is discrimination and if they need a receptionist, they should hire one.
Why did the former HR person leave?

There was no HR before me. So part of me thinks that they really just have no idea...but then the other part of me just thinks they are mean people. And we all know that mean people s*ck!

Maybe you should talk to him and maybe he just needs you to clarify that this si not part of your job and it in fact interferes with your ability to perform your primary job functions. I've been hired for jobs where I actually had to calrify with my employer what my job is and is not.
